Lance leaf Self-heal, Prunella vulgaris var. lanceolata, prefers partial sun to moderate shade, in moist open woodland, forest edges, or meadows.
Blue-violet flowers produced over a long period in the summer. Excellent bee forage, nectar source (and occasional larval host) for butterflies, including whites, sulfurs and greys.
Direct Sow: Mix contents of seed package with 3 times as much vermiculite or fine coir. Spread on bare disturbed ground or scarified lawn or meadow, fall through very early spring. Covers 100 square feet.
In containers: Plant 2-3 seeds per cell or pot and keep moist in spring, for planting out 8-12" apart in fall.
