Blue-headed Gilia, Gilia capitata, grows well in full sun to shade on dry, rocky outcrops and grassy hillsides.

Numerous baby-blue, globe-like flowers bloom in summer on heads 3 to 5 feet tall. A drought tolerant annual that self sows; loved by butterflies, bees and other native pollinators.

Direct Sow:  Mix contents of seed package with 3 times as much volume of vermiculite or fine coir.  Spread on bare disturbed ground in fall, winter, or very early spring.  Covers 100 square feet.

In containers:  plant 2-3 seeds per cell or pot and keep cool and moist, for planting out 6-8" apart in early spring.
