Purplish red (rarely yellow) round flower balls make this perennial native wildflower special. Erect spreading stems can reach up to 3 feet tall. Blooms in late spring. Grows well in open grasslands, open oak and pine woods, rocky serpentine, and at low elevations.
Direct Sow: Mix contents of seed packet with 3 times as much vermiculite or fine coir. Spread in bare disturbed ground late fall to early spring. Covers 100 square feet.
In Container: Plant several seeds in each cell or pot in late fall or early winter, for planting out 18" apart in spring.
