A dense clumping shrub/tree that can reach a max height of around 30ft when left unattended. These respond very well to pruning to keep them small. Both a bird and bee magnet! The dense clusters of small white flowers provide a feast for numerous pollinators.
They produce long panicles of shiny red berries that brighten up your space in spring. A multitude of bird species here in the Northwest are unfazed by the berries' sour taste and are highly attracted to them.
Plant this in full sun to partial shade. They are not picky about soil and can handle our dense clay with relative ease! Companion plant with wild strawberry, Rudbeckia occidentale, and/or western wild ginger.
