Screened Bottom Board 8 Frame

Here in the Pacific Northwest, where conditions are very humid, ventilation is one of the most important factors to consider when building a hive for your bees. Condensation is a sure-fire way to make your bees unhealthy and the Screened Bottom Board allows excellent airflow year round. 

• Hot Summer Weather - the added ventilation helps to moderate hive temperatures and facilitates the honey curing process. 
• Wet, Warm Winter Weather - in the winter when temperatures are moderate and humidity is high, a well ventilated hive may help to minimize Nosema. 
• Cold, Dry Winter Weather - when temperatures drop too low, our Screened Bottom Board is equipped with a slot for an insolating Mite Board.
• Screened IPM (integrated pest management) bottom boards assist in the management of Varroa mites, which are a principle cause of colony failure. Ours accommodates a Mite Board (sold separately) to aid in counting mites to determine treatment schedules. 

The Screened Bottom Board is extremely strong and durable, with glued joints and galvanized metal screws. Built to last.
