Habit: Grows in full sun or partial shade in moist to wet soils. Early to mid summer flowers are highly prized by native bees, bumble bees, and hummingbirds; also an important butterfly larval food source. One of the largest lupines, can reach 5 ft. tall. Perennial and tends to self-seed.
Direct Sow: Mix contents of seed package with 3 times as much volume of vermiculite or fine coir. Spread on bare disturbed ground in fall, winter, or very early spring. Covers 100 square feet.
In containers: plant 2-3 seeds per cell or pot and keep cool and moist, for planting out 6-8" apart in early spring.
